This left Fry's in hole the Victoria Park closed as the home side would take the win. The points on rink 1 came down to the final end with Fry's one shot behind. Holding the 2 shots necessary, Fry's skip ran 2 feet to far into the jack, pulling the jack away from Fry's bowls to just sit a single shot. WINNING START IN DIVISION 2
Fry's began the new Bristol and District League campaign in Division 2 following last year's unbeaten season in Division 3. The opening match saw Fry's travel to Henleaze 'A' who finished 3rd in Division 2 last year. Fry's have found success at Henleaze hard to come by in past years, but after a tight start, Fry's soon took the lead thanks to rinks 1 and 3, with rink 2 mostly trading singles. Past the halfway point, Henleaze threatened to get back into the match, but some big saves from Fry's skips limited the damage to keep Fry's ahead. The game took a late twist on rink 3 as Fry's dropped 5 shots on their penultimate end which saw Fry's down one on the rink. Unable to find the required shots, Henleaze took the 2 points. A strong finish on rink 1 sealed the match for Fry's and with rink 2 securing shot on the last end, Fry's took 8 points and a 47-36 win seeing them in 3rd in the early standings on their return to Division 2. Scores: Rink 1: 20-10; Rink 2: 12-9; Rink 3: 15-17; Fry's 47-36 Henleaze 'A' (8-2).
